Jewel of the South

Jewel of the South is a modern New Orleans tavern featuring innovative, seasonal food and drink in a classic New Orleans setting, an 1830s Creole cottage in the French Quarter. Chris Hannah directs Jewel’s cocktail program, seamlessly blending classic and modern into a transportive narrative, referencing the city’s rich history and sourcing ingredients with intention. The culinary program is led by Chef Philip Whitmarsh, who brings a cheeky modern British sensibility to New American cuisine, with a focus on seasonal whole vegetables and diverse animal proteins. John Stubbs is the owner/operator, and Paul Greagoff is the General Manager. In 2022, Jewel was awarded Best Restaurant Bar in America and Best US Bartender for Chris Hannah at Tales of the Cocktail, named a runner up for Best Restaurant Bar and Expertise in Hospitality from Liquor.com, honored as one of Esquire’s Top 25 Bars in America, and debuted on North America’s 50 Best Bars list at #24.
