Since 1920, the Cuvelier Family has contributed to tailoring the notable style of Chateau Léoville Poyferré with care, thoughtfulness and passion whilst cultivating a free-spirited approach unhindered by tradition. These “aventuriers du vin”, wine adventurers, with roots from the north of France, have continuously focused on innovation to pursue their objective: always seeking to improve the wine. Each generation has been the guardian and visionary of this ideal, taking the privilege and responsibility to care for their unique vineyard terroir throughout the century. They rely on the best kept secret of the property: a terroir of multifaceted soils dispersed across the famous Bordeaux plateau of Léoville in Saint-Julien and working by the motto “the essential is invisible to the eye.”
